Dr. J. Alberto Martinez is a board-certified ophthalmologist with fellowship training in Cornea & External Diseases. He is nationally and internationally recognized as a leader in corneal, cataract and refractive surgery. He has been recognized as "Teacher of the Year" unanimously by the residents at Georgetown University School of Medicine, "Top Doctor" by his peers since the first year of his practice, and as a Ptyergium "Top Surgeon" based on the number of ptyergium surgeries performed and the extremely low rate of recurrence among his patients. Dr. Martinez launched a successful ophthalmology and optometry practice - Visionary Eye Doctors - serving the greater Washington, DC area and is the founder of a charitable nonprofit - Visionary Ophthalmology Foundation - providing surgical eye services among underserved and under-resourced populations in the United States and internationally.
